4-Wheel Drive Permits
Only 4-wheel drive vehicles with permits may drive on posted beaches. Permits may be obtained at the Municipal Offices at City Hall from March 1st through April 30th. After April 30th through Labor Day, permits may be obtained at the Beach Fee Office located at 15th & Brigantine Blvd., across the street from City Hall.

Beach Badges (609) 266-1122
Beach Badges are required for anyone using the beaches from the 2nd Saturday in June until Labor Day. Badges are available at the Beach Fee Office located at 15th & Brigantine Blvd., across the street from City Hall. Beach Badges may also be purchased from Beach Tag Inspectors on the beach.

Dog Owners
No dogs shall be permitted upon any public beach between 14th Street North and the South-westernmost portion of the beaches between May 30th and September 30th inclusive. No dog shall be allowed to run at large off the property of the owner, or person keeping said dog.

Dunes, Fences & Beach Grass
The interference with, alteration, removal or destruction of sand dunes, vegetation, snow fences or other protective barriers along the beach front is strictly prohibited. Violators are punishable by a fine not exceeding $200.00 or by imprisonment.

Brigantine Beaches and Water Sports


Beach Tags

Beach tags are required from June 15th to Labor Day during the hours of 10:30am to 5:30pm.

Tags can be purchased at the Beach Fee Office, located at 15th Street and Brigantine Avenue from May 1st through September 1st. The Beach Fee Office is open 7 days a week from the hours of 9:00 am to 4:00 pm and can be reached by calling (609) 266-1122.

If the beach is in operation you can purchase tags on the beach from the inspectors.

Parking permits for municipal parking lots can be purchased for $13.00 for the Seasonal permit or $6.00 for daily permits.

Four Wheel Drive Vehicles on the Beach

Driving a four-wheel drive is permitted on the beach, as long as a permit is obtained. (See fee table below.)

Applicants should present a valid driver’s license, auto registration and proof of insurance. Permit holders must follow rules and regulations of permit.

Surfers (or aspiring surfers) may also contact the Brigantine Beach Waveriders at (609) 266-SURF for information about surfing tournaments and clinics for youth.

Kite Flying
Permitted on 34th Street South to 38th Street South.

Dogs on the Beach
From October 1st to May 29th, dogs are allowed on the beach provided they are on a leash, not longer than 6 ft. Dog feces must be removed. Dogs are allowed on the North-End Beach any time – same rules apply.

Boat Ramp

The Boat Ramp is located at 5th St. South and Bayshore Avenue. A permit to use the ramp is required from May 15th to September 15th. (See fee table below. Also see note at bottom of page about Boat/Trailer parking.) Permits are only sold at the boat ramp.

Liscensed boats only. 6th Street North, 28th Street - 30th Street & 40th Street.


Jet Skis
You must have a permit to launch from designated beach. The cost is $125.00/yr. In order to obtain a permit, applicant must have a copy of Face sheet of insurance policy (minimum $500,000 liability insurance required. Permit holders must follow rules and regulations of permit. Jet Skiing is permitted in the inlet side of the South Jetty as designated by appropriately posted signs.


Kayaking
Kayaking is permitted at the following beaches.

Adjacent to all Lifeguard protected beaches.
The North-end beaches (North of 15th Street North)
Absecon Inlet Beaches.
Area between Sandy Lane and Seaside Road lifeguard station.
26th Street South – City Dock area.

Catamarans
Must have a permit, the cost is $150.00/yr. In order to obtain a permit applicant must have proof of Liability Insurance. The launch area is located from Neptune Drive to Club Drive.

Parking of Boats and/or Trailers
Parking shall be prohibited within the City of Brigantine from October 1st to May 1st. From May 1st to September 30th, boats and/or trailers can be parked on the street in front of the owners/lessees property. No parking of boats and/or trailers on Ocean Avenue at anytime.

From New York:
Take NJ Turnpike Exit 11 to the Garden State Parkway.
Take Exit
38 to the Atlantic City Expressway. At the end of the Expressway,
take the Marina Exit (Exit 1) to Atlantic City Connector. Follow the
signs to Brigantine Beach.

From Philadelphia:
Take the Benjamin Franklin or Walt Whitman Bridge to the North-South
Freeway (Rte. 42) South, to the Atlantic City Expressway.
At the end of the Expressway, take the Marina Exit (Exit 1) to
Atlantic City Connector. Follow the signs to Brigantine Beach.

From the South:
Take the Garden State Parkway north, take Exit 38 to the
Atlantic City Expressway. At the end of the Expressway, take the
Marina Exit (Exit 1) to Atlantic City Connector. Follow the signs
to Brigantine Beach.

From Baltimore/Washington DC:
Take I-95 to the Walt Whitman Bridge to the North-South
Freeway (Rte. 42) south, to the Atlantic City Expressway. At
the end of the Expressway, take the Marina Exit (Exit 1) to
Atlantic City Connector. Follow the signs to Brigantine Beach.
